What is a Journey?

A Journey organizes related Socras and smaller Journeys around a goal. Each Socra holds one problem, decision, draft, or idea. Its parent Journey supplies background that the work can use.

A writer can use a Journey for related articles and separate Socras for individual drafts. A consultant can keep a client's goal and constraints in Journey Context while working through individual recommendations.

What Context contains

Journey Context holds the background that later work needs. This can include the goal, constraints, established facts, decisions, and their reasons. Review it when the goal or evidence changes.

Keep accepted decisions and their reasons explicit in the Socra's conversation. Review the saved Context before relying on it in later work. The conversation remains with the Socra that produced it.

When to add structure

Use a Journey when several pieces of work need the same background. A sub-Journey is useful when part of the work has a distinct goal and Context. You can start a Socra directly in a Space and organize it later.

Creating or moving work can change the access it inherits. Check the destination and its Privacy settings before putting sensitive work there. The Socras and Journeys guide explains their relationship.
