What is the difference between a Journey and a Socra?
A Socra holds one problem, decision, draft, or idea. A Journey organizes related Socras and smaller Journeys around a larger goal. Its Context gives the work inside it shared background.
Choose a Socra for one piece of work
Use a Socra when the work can reach a useful result on its own. Examples include comparing two proposals, revising an article, or deciding what evidence an experiment needs.
The Socra keeps authored content and conversation together. Its assignee, status, priority, and due date help the team see who is responsible and what remains. It can belong directly to a Space or to a Journey.
Choose a Journey for a shared goal
Use a Journey when several pieces of work need the same goal and Context. A thesis Journey can hold decisions about sources and structure while separate Socras address individual sections. A sub-Journey can give one part its own goal and background.
Moving a Socra changes the parent Context available to later work. It can also affect inherited access. Check the destination's Privacy and membership before moving material.
You do not need to plan a hierarchy before starting. Use the smallest structure that fits the work, then organize related Socras when the relationship becomes useful. See Socras and Journeys for the full model.
